Greetings, fellow deviants.
My name is Claudio D'Azeglio, I just recently joined DeviantArt, even if I wanted to join it ever since its launch date, due to the fact that I always fell in love with the sci-fi and futuristic wallpapers or resources shared by people in here. Anyway, I hope that my stay here will be rather pleasant and friendly, since I had some negative past experiences with sites such as Flickr.
I'm 23 years old, I live in Rome, Italy, I was born here aswell. When I was 6 years old I watched a television transmission about the Shuttles of the NASA, and ever since, I fell in love with space. My main passions, obviously, is playing sci-fi games, since I doubt that I could become an astronaut, as I wished when I was a child. But life isn't so pretty for all of us.
I worked for Costa Crociere until 2010, a general cruising company, afterwards, after that I was kicked out due to the economical crysis, I joined up with the Italian Armed Forces. I served with the Military Navy down in Somalia, for operation EUNAVFOR, a join effort of the NATO states to keep at bay the pirate plague that pillaged large tankers, wrecking immense damage to our economical system. My turn lasted 1 month, then I came back. I always managed to stay in contact with my friends and with my family thanks to Skype, I'll never forget how I got locked in the bathroom of the warship that I was serving on when a friend of mine (from Skype) told a colleague that I was mocking him, I got locked up in the bathroom as for a joke.. a rather annoying joke since somebody forgot to clean the toilets.
Anyway, after that a friend of mine from the Army perished in Afghanistan, during the line of duty, due to the explosion of an IED near their vehicule. He died, and the rest of the vehicule's crew was badly injured. After this episode, I got hooked up by an old highschool friend, and after his suggestion, I joined the Finance Guard (Guardia di Finanza). We're dealing in tax evasions, contraband, illegal importation of firearms, immigration and drugs. Call us the Italian DEA if you want, our job is similar, even if we don't act outside from our sovereign territory. Anyway.
As a hobby, I lead the Continuum Development Team, which is creating Continuum, a mod for Digital Anvil's game, Freelancer. The game was released in 2003, thanks to the contribution of Microsoft Softworks who covered the publishing fees. Unfortunately, Digital Anvil went bankrupt immediately after releasing the game, and ever since, the game got a thick layer of dust on its name. Continuum will be an unofficial expansion for the game, expanding in a very dark and misterious way the multiplayer environment offered by Freelancer.
In 2011, I've reunited the best people that a project leader may ever dream to have. We are currently 35 in the team, each with his specific job. The development for the mod goes forward, slowly.
